Why not smoke? (hypnotists)

By Mira Williams

The second issue in kicking the habit is: keep thinking positive. If you really are determined to give up, keep reading!

Both cigar and cigarettes smokers expose themselves knowingly to the adverse effects of nicotine. The body has an immune system that is overridden so that toxic fumes can be inhaled, which is necessary to deliver nicotine into the bloodstream and ultimately to the brain. Although highly addictive, nicotine is less harmful than other substances contained in tobacco products. Those are toxic chemicals that harm our bodies and threaten our health, such as Ethanol, Aluminum, DDT, Ammonia, Arsenic, Formaldehyde, Benzene, Hydrogen cyanide and Carbon monoxide. In fact, the smoke from a single cigarette contains a mix of over 4000 chemicals. Out of those 4004, 50 are known carcinogens which are created when the tobacco is being burned.

If you make an attempt to find out what the dangers are of smoking, the internet really is your best source. You will find for instance that smoking is one of the leading causes of cancer (lungs, oral cavity, larynx and esophagus). You will also find that there are significant cosmetic benefits to giving up smoking. Heavy long-term smokers show this in their faces: a pallored skin and withdrawn grayish features gives it away. In addition to being addictive, nicotine stains fingers and teeth, giving them a yellowish brown tint. All this information about smoking is freely available on the Internet, mainly because smoking is increasingly seen as a scourge. It can be very rewarding to consult internet data on smoking and smoking related diseases, if you are embarking on a quest to give up smoking cigarettes.

If you want to stop smoking now, you should know what happens in your body. The primary substance around smoking is nicotine. Through regular smoking, nicotine is slowly absorbed through the skin, through the inner mucosa of the mouth and nose, and directly into the lungs through inhalation.

Over time, other substances inhaled through cigarette smoke, such as tar as well as a host of carcinogens, will fill your lungs and kill vital respiratory cells. You will find it harder to breathe as your respiratory capacity will decrease.

Are you really prepared to give up so many things in order to smoke? The answer should of course be negative. If you are not prepared to put up with allowing so many toxic substances to enter your body in order to fees your brains nicotine habit, then you need to quit smoking, thus offering your brain the opportunity to get weaned off nicotine. The urge to smoke frequently is caused by the effects of the nicotine leaving the body about 45 minutes after the last cigarette. That is why the cigarette manufacturers create packets of 20, so you can smoke exactly 20 cigarettes per day. The tobacco manufacturers and their share holders make money out of your addiction. They get rich while you die, which is rather unfair, dont you think? The more you smoke, the more money they make. They would only regret your death as a result of smoking, because they cannot extract any more money from you. The tobacco manufacturers claim that you have a free choice to smoke or not to smoke. Unfortunately it usually means that the choice is not yours but theirs as they cleverly create a product that contains a highly addictive substance which takes the free will out of smoking.

My question is, why on earth would you trouble yourself all day long with such a filthy habit? Why not get help to quit, as this is one important step that you can take to improve your life and health in the long term.

The best way to stop smoking is to be determined. The moment you really quit, is an important step into choosing life instead of being slowly poisoned. Normally within a few days you will start to see the effects. Your lungs start to clear slowly and you find that your senses of smell and taste have improved. Within 72 hours, all nicotine will have left the body and the brain has stopped craving for it. Over time, yours respiratory capacity will increase, depending on how bad the damage was when you gave up. In order to have a substitute for cigarettes, people often start eating sweets or just increase their food intake in general, so that weight gain occurs. It is, however, easier to shed a few pounds than to give up cigarettes again. There are many other things that matter in this life, so think about them and then think about smoking. I can almost hear you think: perhaps now is the time to give it up for good?

Hypnotherapeutic Pain Elimination CDs
By Alan Densky

The axiom “no pain, no gain” simply is not true. Envision all of the times pain has hindered you from engaging in activities that you enjoy - perhaps running, playing tennis, fishing and even sitting can be impossible when you are in pain. Did you gain anything from missing out on memories?

However, the adage that “Pain is all in your head” can, in fact, be true. If that is the case, then the cure is all in your head, also. With hypnosis, pain can disappear completely. Despite what you may think, hypnosis is simply a mental state during which messages can reach the unconscious more easily. The state of hypnosis is characterized by deep relaxation. In fact, with regular practice of a self hypnosis pain elimination regimen, you will feel much more calm over all.

Pain is a signal that something in your body is amiss. So pain is actually a positive thing. But after you have your doctor check you out to ensure that the pain is not indicating a harmful condition like a tumor, it’s time to manage or even eliminate the pain.

There is no risk in a hypnotherapeutic pain relief program. You cannot “get stuck” in a hypnotic state. The worst that would ever happen when you use self hypnosis for pain reduction is that you could fall into a natural state of sleep for a half hour- think of all of the nights that pain has kept you from sleeping!

This is not to say that a hypnotherapeutic pain management system is similar to sleep, because that is the major misunderstanding about hypnosis. When you are asleep, you’re unconscious. If you are unconscious, then you cannot hear anything. If you cannot hear anything, then a hypnotherapist cannot assist you. Hypnosis is actually a state of keen awareness.

Despite being consciously aware of everything, hypnotherapeutic pain management programs can tackle both physical and mental causes and introduce many effective avenues to eliminate pain. Medicines only block the reception of the physical symptoms of pain briefly, but hypnotherapeutic pain regimens can actually decrease the amount and strength of pain signals that you sense. You can literally reprogram your body to send less pain-inducing chemicals to your receptors. This means that you can use fewer pain-killing medications, or in many cases no medications at all.

Endorphins are opiate-like elements that are manufactured in the brain. They are the elements that cause athletes to get a high when they workout very hard. Using self hypnosis, you can also discover how to program your brain to create pain-relieving endorphins on demand and then send them to the painful area where they are required.

Thanks to endorphins, the brain is capable of inducing analgesia, which is a mild anesthesia, as well as complete anesthesia (numbness). Medical journals are full of reports both in pre-anesthesia days, as well as in modern times, when major surgery has been completed under hypnoanesthesia.

Hypnosis can also be used to program the mind to direct your attention away from pain, which will help you perceive much less discomfort. Further, hypnotherapeutic pain management CDs can help our mind realize and understand that the pain is there, but not to let us feel it. A qualified hypnotherapist will know how to completely address additional hypnotic suggestions that will aid in your recovery.

A very effective hypnosis pain remedy lies in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or NLP. No doubt that after dealing with chronic pain, you may be doubtful that a hypnotherapeutic pain program will get the job done. In many cases, NLP techniques actually are more successful for modern thinkers than traditional hypnosis does because it was created for people like you who are brought up to question and analyze everything. When we analyze, we tend to put up barriers to the acceptance of post-hypnotic suggestions.

Stressful feelings always make us perceive far more pain than we are actually experiencing. One of the most successful NLP patterns for eliminating stress is known as the “Flash.” This tool reprograms the unconscious mind to use mental images that create stress to actually trigger thoughts that create feelings of relaxation in their place. After you have used this technique, it will be difficult or impossible to think the thoughts that trouble you, because your unconscious will instantly and automatically exchange them in a Flash for thoughts that relax you instead.

Self hypnosis and pain relief go hand in hand. If you are exhausted from coping with prescriptions that render you in no condition to drive or to fully experience life, or worse, of living with the throbbing, stabbing or shooting pulsations of discomfort, a hypnosis pain elimination program can provide safe, natural and instantaneous relief.

Alan B. Densky, CH has been helping people with hypnosis pain relief since 1978. A familiar authority in the hypnotherapy field, he offers headache and migraine hypnosis & NLP CDs and free hypnosis resources on his Neuro-VISION website.

Things you can do to quit smoking!
By Mira Williams

If your main concern is how difficult it is going to be to give up smoking, you already have placed yourself in a disadvantageous position. It is highly advisable to start planning how you are going to quit, when you are going to quit and what you need to support you in order to make giving up as easy and simple as possible. Giving up without planning or support is doomed to fail and every time you have failed, you will lose more confidence about future success in giving up smoking in the furture. The general advice is: Do not think that it is difficult, if you do, you will find it even more difficult than you think. There are a number of options you have that can help you to give up. The Internet is a wonderful source of information on what experts say about giving up and how individuals want to part with information how they stopped. The Pharmaceutical Industry wants you to do it by using their products so they also put their internet ore in Be aware that there are ways to quit smoking and they are all there for your own benefit.

The reasons why people smoke are well known, their misconception about cigarettes providing relaxation or concentration (ironically, people who smoke think that cigarettes actually can do both). Then there is of course the perceived high, when the nicotine hits the brain, which is false as the high is not a high but merely the reverse of the distress state of the body when the brain establishes that it has a nicotine deficit.

If you asked most smokers who have been smoking for many years if they would be interested in the following scenario: as by magic, they can give up cigarettes today and it would not bother them, there would be no craving because of nicotine deficiency, they would absolutely not miss them, nor would they put on weight or suffer from mood swings. Many, if not all, long term smokers would not take long to consider buying into that scenario. However, if they are then asked about actually giving up, they become evasive and show considerable reluctance to do so. An often heard argument is that they are not ready for it. When you ask further what that means, you will find out that the not ready reason is not really a valid argument. The main reason for wanting to give up, but not being capable of giving up is that long term smokers are convinced that they are not able to cope with life without cigarettes.

When giving up is considered, some of us immediately think of all the good times that they had in the past and they automatically associate those good times with smoking. Somehow they cannot believe that life is just as easy (or difficult, depending on your circumstances) without cigarettes. At all times, life without cigarettes is considerably easier, and if it is not easier, then it makes no difference to life if you smoke or not. That is the opinion of all those who have done the giving up successfully and who have become non-smokers. In order to make a successful attempt at giving up smoking, that fear factor of not being able to cope with everyday life should be dealt with. In order to counteract the fear factor, it would be an idea to list all the positive things that may be experienced as a result of giving up. There usually are quite a few of those. The positives usually include: no more worries about smoking-related health problems, more money, no more bad smelling clothes, hair, rooms or houses, no more bad breath, no more bad taste, no more feelings of being irritable and irate. When considering all those positive things, the fear usually relents somewhat and the prospect of becoming a non smoker will become more and more attractive.

In order to quit the tobacco successfully, it is advisable to make a list of all those benefits that you expect to experience from giving up. As part of the preparation, consult that list every day and analyze each item further, trying to imagine that you already have stopped and that the benefits are already happening. At this point, it would be time to fix a giving up date.

The Internet contains all the resources you need to discover useful quit smoking tips and suggestions. Perhaps you should find some statistics and by doing that, you will find that you are not alone in your quest to give up. In 2007, in Britain alone, 350.000 people gave up smoking. So if 350,000 people can do it, perhaps you can do it too.

Also, if you are worried about having to suffer withdrawal symptoms, you should keep in mind that those are temporary. Many people reduce the severity of these symptoms by using stop smoking patches, some do not have any withdrawal symptoms because they used hypnosis or hypnotherapy to give up, some receive specialist counseling in order to cope.

During the first weeks of giving up, things will noticeably become easier every single day. Remember to keep your goal in mind of becoming a non smoker. Is there a best way to stop smoking? There are several outstanding ways of giving up, including hypnotherapy.

Regular smokers have their favorite brand of cigarettes. A switch of brand helps to prepare you for giving up. Because of the different mixture of tobacco and additives, the taste of the new brand is not the same. This can be a boost when finally giving up. If you want to go one step further, start smoking a brand you hate, that makes it even easier. It is also important that you reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke on a daily basis and that you do not smoke the entire cigarette. Remain determined and with these few simple suggestions, you may become a non-smoker before you know it.

Smoking is often regarded as reasonably pleasant experience. However, if you take all the fun out of it, you increase your chances of successfully giving up. A few extra tips: dont light a cigarette because you feel it is time you had another one; just wait for the craving. Dont get reminded by cigarettes being readily available. Put them away after you lit one. Let all the cigarette ends pile up in the ashtray, the smell will certainly put you off. Avoid temptations; stay away for a while from friends who smoke. Visit a stop smoking group or a stop smoking clinic if you feel you cant quit on your own!
